Our aim is to recruit a 1000 individuals around the world to contribute £5 per month on a regular basis. This amounts to the cost of an inexpensive bottle of wine or two beers. But this insignificant amount for most individuals will enable the feeding of one more child, at least meet his or her basic need for food.
There are many Sri Lankan expatriates throughout the world, who have left the troubled island, and have made a life for themselves and prospered. Some may have decided never to go back, but they will always have Sri Lanka, the land of their birth, in their hearts and hope for a day when there will be peace and prosperity for the sake of those left behind. Such peace and prosperity can only be achieved if vengeance and revenge is replaced by compassion and tolerance and illiteracy is replaced with education and a means to make a living.
Those of us who are fortunate to be living elsewhere in relative prosperity need to show compassion and help those who are less fortunate than ourselves. What better place to start than by helping these unfortunate orphans, who through no fault of their own have been left to fend for themselves.
Our aim is to initially help them survive when they are young by helping with the provision of their basic need for food and shelter, then provide them with an education in the early and later years so that they could become productive young men and women embracing a compassionate and tolerant way of life.
This campaign is not aimed at Sri Lankan expatriates only. Any decent human being will realise that these children are innocent victims of circumstances beyond their control but which affects them directly. So please donate generously with the knowledge that you are helping some poor child in a distant land have a future.
